In 1999, Nina Favata founded Healing Art Environments, an organization dedicated to improving the environment for sick children and adults with the creation of therapeutic mural art. Through collaboration between artist and medical staff, the murals are designed to give patients a soothing visual focus and aid in their recovery. The artwork is also used in conjunction with specific patient treatments to encourage participation and relaxation. The Healing Art Environments organization has worked tirelessly to make these projects possible, even when no budget was available. Through Nina’s unwavering passion and resolve, she raised awareness of the tremendous need to have therapeutic artwork in hospitals and generated over $250,000 in corporate and private sponsorships to fund the projects. Sponsors receive a donation receipt from the hospital foundation. Today, Healing Art Environments has completed over 60 different projects in hospitals in the US and Canada. The organization has received national recognition for it’s tremendous success through TV, print and radio coverage.   Testimonials from staff and families reflect back the love and commitment that go into each brush stroke, every design. Patients are easier to treat, children actually enjoy their visits to the hospital, recovery time is measurably reduced, pain medication lessened, staff morale up.
